A WOW LEADER

Bringing back the Davidic Terbanace,Worshiping God In Love Truth and Spirit

This few days i have been thinking of how to be a WOW LEADER.

I realized that from listening to other leaders i have become a better leader myself,I can now share with you a few points i have learnt in secrete to some great leaders of out time.

1.DON'T FOCUS ON THE LIMELIGHT.

If you are a leader wanting to grow in leadership skills and gifting, then never take much of your time craving for the limelight, you will always have it anyway, but to live for it will make you a control freak and a senseless person who cant stand being alone in the dark or who cant cant go it alone when there is no one ready to follow.
You can make a good leader if you are able to lead from within and yet help people find the way forward.
focus on the journey  and the goals on the paths if you are to be followed.

2.BE READY FOR ANYTHING BUT DON,T TAKE EVERYTHING.

You should know that all things that raise up do so by leadership and the same is for the one that fails. It takes a leader to make peace just as for war to be started.
So for this you have to be ready to get all the dirt and crap in life and from them that walk with you but don,t take everything dropped at you doorstep, know when to say come in and go away, get out of my way, come out of my house, stay away from me,get behind me,and mostly know when to deal with and for a purpose.

3.BE READY TO MOVE WITH THE RIGHT MOMENTUM.

Many leaders have failed not because they didn't have the gift of talent or ability, but they went down the drain because the dint know when it was right to move with the current or with the push,Paul the apostle spoke this when they were getting into the sea.The captain was seeing the wind that could move the ship to the next stop while Paul was seeing a wind that will drop them right in the head of a hurricane storm..
A leader must know which wind is meant to push them into there destiny.

4.BE READY TO PUSH THE AGENDA TO THE NEXT LEVEL.

A leader never waits for a fight for him to get into war,you know where the enemy is,then strike so long us he is standing on your way.A leader never waits for a controversy for him to prove his ability, you must move on and make sure you live a terrain for your followers to read on and make a life on,you got to work full time and never should you ever think that you will rest from the job as a leader.
You need strength not rest, the moment you sit back and rest, you will only help the enemy build up courage to come at you.

5.BE READY TO WORK WITH BOTH HANDS.

Never get to stop walking towards you destination because of a moment of war, never run backwards when you are attacked by your fores, you have to learn how to fight with one hand and build you walls with the other, defend you course with one hand and build you wall with the other and you will have a successful end.

6.KNOW THEM THAT KNOW YOU
The greatest tragedy in an institution, company, ministry, family or government is to see a successful leader handing over his mantle to a person that is against His principles, vision and what he stands for.for you to make sure that your legacy lives on after you are gone, you have to copy the principle of Jesus,He left the mantle to the only one man who knew who he was and what He stands for.
Bottom line never give your legacy to a stranger

EMBRACE THE NEW BEGGINING

Bringing back the Davidic Terbanace,Worshiping God In Love Truth and Spirit

Through His grace and mercy, God has promised us a new beginning that will endure for eternity…

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
-All you have to do is to stop planning to fail by believing in Gods plan for us,we need to get into His set welfare for us,He has already set people in place to work out things for your good.Your work is just to believe and be in the right place and position, for His planes for your life are the best.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

-If you are to get into Gods plans for your life then you have to know that your old nature is no longer a part of you, many of us fail to get in tune with Gods plan for us just because we run into Gods plans dressed in our old self.Do not come in the new phase of your life in Christ holding your former life's events.Your yesterdays pains and misfortunes don't have a space in today's glory in God.You are to hold onto the new of the day and you will test the righteousness of Christ.

Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
-God is doing a new thing to a new you,if you don't embrace it then you will miss it,that's why He say's,You are a new creation, not old sinner or social degenerate. You are Gods new workmanship and He is ready to invest in you as His ever new project. He will give you Godspeed and success, you will not glide but mount up with wings like eagles.you will achieve big things in a shot period of time for you are His new design in town.you are a brand new merchandise ready to take the market by storm.get to hold onto the new you.
“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
-Many people hold first to the past events and that has made them fail to thrust through the ceilings for their God given space.Leaving in your past only makes you stagnated and courses you to move in circles. The things you remember as negative are the reason He wants you to renew your mind in the Spirit. That you may focus your attention on Him and His plan for you.

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.”
-Gods plan is evident in His love that is new in you every morning,All you have to do is never want the manna you got yesterday be in your store today, for each day has its own God given manna that shouts Gods love for you.

To put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
-Paul speaks it crystal clear when he says, renew your mind in the spirit. He by the Holly Ghost spake this to help man stop keeping the things of the past in mind that makes many to live in mediocrity and human nature that is to error.Make sure you don't stick to your former self if you really want to test Gods freedom.

He will
The bench word that stands in all Gods promises for you is He will do just What says He will do.

HOW TO STUDY THE BIBLE

Bringing back the Davidic Terbanace,Worshiping God In Love Truth and Spirit

The main purpose of interpreting a text is not UNIQUENESS but CLARITY!   The first task of the preacher is EXEGESIS – careful, systematic study of the Scripture to discover the original, intended meaning; to find out the original intent of the words of the Bible; to hear the Word as the original recipients heard it.  But we don’t just do exegesis when there is an obvious difference between THEN and NOW – it is the first step in studying EVERY text
  • Go back to the original and the best sources for yourself first – don’t just begin by consulting somebody’s book! (i.e. Mark 10:23 – one “expert” said there was a gate in Jerusalem called the “Needle’s Eye” which camels could only go through on their knees, but that gate never existed!)
  • We must always guard against EXEGESIS – reading our desired interpretation into the text instead of letting the text speak to us!

To provoke your thinking, one of the best things to do is use several Bible translations that you know in advance will differ in their interpretation.
There are three basic theories of translation:
  1. Literal: advantage – as close as possible to the original; disadvantage – doesn’t account for cultural differences in customs and expressions (i.e. King James Version)
  2. Free: advantage – eliminates historical and cultural “barriers” by expressing Scripture in modern terms; disadvantage – since it is more concerned with translating “ideas” it is not always accurate in exact wording (i.e. Phillips, Living Bible, The Message)
  3. Dynamic Equivalence: advantage – translates words, idioms and grammatical construction of the original language into “precise equivalents” in modern language; disadvantage – not as “loose” as a free paraphrase, but still not as exact in its wording as a literal translation (i.e. New International Version, New Living Translation)

WHY DOES THIS MATTER? BECAUSE OUR BIBLE DOCTRINE MUST BE EXACT!
That’s why it's important to use the King James Version as your primary text to teach Bible doctrine, while you can use other modern translations to teach issues of practical Christian living. Sometimes, modern translations can shed more light on a passage than the KJV, but you have to be CAREFUL!
Bible Translations – PROS & CONS
  • The King James Version is the most ACCURATE translation, but there are other valid translations. For example, look at 1 Corinthians 7:36 …
  • KJV is accurate, but unclear - But if any man think that he behaveth himself uncomely toward his virgin, if she pass the flower of her age, and need so require, let him do what he will, he sinneth not: let them marry.
  • NASB is inaccurate! - But if any man thinks that he is acting unbecomingly toward his virgin daughter, if she should be of full age, and if it must be so, let him do what he wishes, he does not sin; let her marry.
  • LB is not specific enough! - But if anyone feels he ought to marry because he has trouble controlling his passions, it is all right; it is not a sin; let him marry.
  • NIV is accurate and clear - If anyone thinks he is acting improperly toward the virgin he is engaged to, and if she is getting along in years and he feels he ought to marry, he should do as he wants. He is not sinning. They should get married.
  • TM helps to clarify - If a man has a woman friend to whom he is loyal but never intended to marry, having decided to serve God as a “single,” and then changes his mind, deciding he should marry her, he should go ahead and marry. It’s no sin; it’s not even a “step down” from celibacy, as some say.

The Amplified Version (which gives various “shades of meaning”) can be helpful at times, with this caution: It is often better to use several translations, note where they differ, and then check out those differences in another source, than to be led to believe that a word can mean one of several things in any given sentence, with the reader left to choose whatever best strikes his or her fancy.

How do I know which translation is best? Do some basic word studies and see which one comes closest to the original languages. Do some additional reading that pertains to the specific passage you are studying; in almost every case the majority opinion will be right. Why do Bible versions differ? DOCTRINAL BIAS!

WOMAN,YOU DON'T WANNA MAKE YOUR MAN YOUR SHADOW.

Bringing back the Davidic Terbanace,Worshiping God In Love Truth and Spirit

I found this on line and i was like wow this is a must send to the world just to help marriages.

By Mary May Larmoyeux
In the 1960s, The Supreme recorded their hit song “Stop! In the Name of Love!” I remember singing the words as a teenager: “Before you break my heart … think it o-o-ver …”
Even though I’ve been married for decades now, it’s still important for me to consider my husband’s needs. I should think about the possible effects of my careless words, attitudes, and actions before I break his heart.
Can you identify? What do your words and actions say to your husband about your love for him? Does it break his heart or make him a proverb 31 man, who is proud of his wife?
When considering this, "I asked some girlfriends, “What should a wife stop doing if she wants to improve her marriage?”
This list is based on their responses:

1. Stop Thinking That Your Way Is The “Right” Way
If he does something differently, it does not mean that it’s wrong. When a wife insists on having her own way, she is in essence saying, “I have to be in control.”

2. Don’t Put Others Before Your Husband
God designed companionship in marriage so that a husband and wife can meet one another’s need for a close, intimate, human relationship. He even said in Genesis 2:18, “It is not good that the man should be alone.”
So what happens when you put your mother, a friend, or even a child before your spouse? Actually, you take a step (often unintentional) towards isolation in your marriage. If you choose, for example, to spend an afternoon shopping with your mom when your husband asked you to watch a football game with him, you may leave hubby feeling that he has second place in your heart.

3. Don’t Expect Your Husband To Be Your Girlfriend
Most men and women not only look different physically,
but also have unique ways of processing life. One example of this is the need for conversation. I don’t know about you, but sometimes I’m guilty of wearing out my husband with countless conversational details that he doesn’t really care about. Now if he were a girlfriend, all of those details would definitely matter!
4. Don’t Dishonor Your Husband
Suggestions included: Stop all nagging and don’t correct hubby in front of others. If you finish your husband’s sentences, you may be unintentionally communicating, “I don’t really care about what you have to say.”
5.Stop Expecting Your Husband To Fail You As Your Dad Failed Your Mom
“I spent many years waiting for my husband to give up and walk out on me, like my dad had years earlier,” said one friend. Her unfounded fears had robbed her marriage of much joy.
                                                                                6. Don’t Put Your Husband On The Defensive
For example, if you are driving around a section of town looking for a restaurant and he’s obviously lost, does it really help for you to tell him that he’s been going around the same block for the fifth time? One wise wife said that she’s learned to be quiet in situations like this. Now, before she makes a comment, she weighs her words—asking herself:
“Are my words needed? Would they be encouraging?” Proverbs
10:19 says, “When words are many, transgression is not lacking, but whoever restrains his lips is prudent.”

7. Never Use Sex To Bargain With Your Husband
Some women intentionally or unintentionally say to their husbands, “When I get what I want, you get sex.” However, 1 Corinthians 7:4-5 reminds husbands and wives that their bodies are not their own. “Do not deprive one another …”

8. Stop Reminding Your Husband About Things Over And Over
Don’t make him feel guilty or nitpick him about small stuff. One friend said that when we constantly remind our husbands about diet, weight, medication, picking up the dry cleaning, etc., we are actually acting more like his mother than his wife.

9. Don’t Make Your Husband Earn Your Respect
Many women think, I’ll respect him when he earns it. But there’s a reason that Ephesians 5:33 says, “Let the wife see that she respects her husband.” As one friend said: “If women could learn to understand that respect is a man's native tongue, that it absolutely heals his heart and ministers to him like nothing else, it would make the biggest difference in the world.”

10. Stop Giving Your Husband Your Long Term To-Do List
A colleague warns against overwhelming your husband with too much information. You may unintentionally cause him to feel like a failure, thinking that your long list means you are discontent. Or, he may incorrectly assume that you want him to do something immediately.

11. Don’t Act Like Your Husband Is A Mind Reader
Instead, be specific about your requests. One busy mom said that she used to feel overwhelmed with household chores, wishing her spouse would help her. She now realizes that the only way he knows her needs is when she tells him. “Most often,” she says, “when I simply say, ‘Honey, will you tuck the kids in tonight while I get the kitchen cleaned up,’ he is glad to help.” She’s discovered that a few words are all it takes “to change a resentment-filled, stressed-out night into a team-effort bonding time.”

12. Stop Putting Housework Ahead Of Hubby
One young mom told her husband that she didn't want to make love one night because she had just changed the sheets and she wanted them to stay clean. What do you think that response said to her husband? Another woman, who puts her husband ahead of the housework, said: “Do not leave the unfolded laundry on your marriage bed.”

13. Put An End To Taking The Lead Because You Think He Won't Take It
“The first many years of our marriage,” one wife said, “I would see what needed to be done and get frustrated that my husband would not take charge and get it done.” She went on to say that she’s changed by learning to wait on her husband’s leadership. “I really believe,” she says, “that our men don't lead because we women are too quick to jump in and take care of it all.” Ephesians 5:23 says, “For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body … .”

14. Do Not Expect Your Husband To Be Prince Charming
After all, the perfect husband only exists in fairy tales and your marriage exists in real life. One young wife said that instead of focusing on her husband’s shortcomings, she’s learned to recognize the wonderful things about him. What’s been the result? He’s been encouraged to do even more to be the man of her dreams.

15. Never Look First To A Book, A Plan, Or A Person To Fix A Problem In Your Marriage
Instead go to God’s Word and believe and act on the things that He says. “He will lead me to any resources I need,” one woman said. “God has already given us everything we need for life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3) but we have to live according to the promises and expect Him to show up for us.”
A Question
The Bible paraphrase The Message, says in 1 Corinthians 13, “Love never gives up … isn’t always ‘me first,’ … doesn’t keep score of the sins of others … trusts God always, always looks for the best.”

What do your words and actions say to your sweetheart about your love?
Do you need to stop doing some things in your marriage? Before you answer, think it o-o-ver...again...think o-o-o-ver it!

PRAYER

Bringing back the Davidic Terbanace,Worshiping God In Love Truth and Spirit

IF PRAYER IS to be spoken of at all, then the following words are naturally only meant for those who concern themselves with prayer.
He who does not feel the inner urge to pray may well refrain from doing so, for his words or his thoughts would inevitably dissolve into nothingness. If prayer is not felt deeply within, through and through, it has no value, and therefore will have no effect.
The best foundation for a prayer which may be expected to have effect lies in those moments of spontaneous thankfulness arising out of great happiness or of deepest pain resulting from heartfelt grief. In such moments a person is filled with one particular intuitive perception which dominates all else. This enables the main wish of the prayer, be it gratitude or a request, to receive undimmed power.
People often have a wrong picture of how a prayer comes into existence, what happens to it, and how it further develops. Not every prayer penetrates to the Highest Ruler of the Universe. On the contrary, it is a very rare exception when a prayer is actually able to ascend to the steps of His Throne. Here also the basic Law of the Power of Attraction of Homogeneous Species plays the principal role.

A prayer which is seriously and deeply felt will be attracted to and itself attract those of similar nature, and come into contact with a power-center of a kind identical to the main theme of the prayer. These power-centers can also be called sections of the spheres or something similar — basically it all amounts to the same!
The main wish of the prayer will become effective through reciprocal action. It will either bring calmness, strength, recovery, plans suddenly arising in the mind, the solution to difficult problems, or other things. Something good will always come of it, be it only increased composure and balance of mind, which will in turn lead to a solution and some way out of the difficulty.
It is also possible that the prayers sent out, having received increased power through the reciprocal action of homogeneous power-centers, will find an ethereal path to people who, being stimulated through this, will in some way bring help and thus fulfillment of the prayer.

All these happenings will be easily understood by observing ethereal life. Here again justice lies in the fact that it is always the inner quality of the one who prays which is decisive. The fervor with which he prays determines the power, i.e. the vitality and effectiveness of the prayer.
In the great ethereal happenings in the cosmos each variety of intuitive perception finds the homogeneous species to which it belongs, because not only could it not be attracted by others, but it would even be repelled. Only when meeting its similar kind does a connection take place with a consequent increase in strength.
A prayer embodying various intuitive perceptions, which still contain a certain measure of strength through the deep absorption of the one praying, will, in spite of its unconnected parts, thereby attract different things, and will also return different kinds of reciprocal effects.
Whether this results in any kind of fulfillment will depend entirely on the nature of the separate parts, which can either foster or hinder each other. However, in every case when praying it is better to send out only one thought as an intuitive perception in order to prevent confusion.
Nor did Christ intend the Lord’s Prayer to be prayed all at once, but in it He summarized that for which a person with an earnest volition may in the first instance ask with the certainty of being heard.
These petitions contain the foundation for everything which man needs for his physical well-being and spiritual ascent. They even give much more! They also indicate the lines which man should strive to follow during his life on earth. The composition of the petitions is a masterpiece in itself.

The Lord’s Prayer alone provides everything for the seeker if he penetrates into it deeply and grasps it aright. He would need nothing more than the Lord’s Prayer! It shows him the whole gospel in concentrated form. It is the key to the Luminous Heights for him who knows how to experience it rightly. It can be both a staff and a torch for the advance and ascent of everyone! What it contains is absolutely immeasurable!1
The real purpose of the Lord’s Prayer is evident in the wealth of its contents. In the Lord’s Prayer Jesus gave humanity the key to the Kingdom of God! It is the very essence of His Message! But He did not intend that it should be rattled straight off!
Man needs only to take note when he is praying to realize how often his attention wanders and how much the depth of his intuitive perception is weakened by repeating the separate petitions one after the other, even when he knows them fluently. It is impossible for him to pass from one petition to the other with the fervor necessary to a genuine prayer!
In His own way Jesus made everything easy for mankind. The right expression would be “easy enough for a child to understand”! Jesus particularly observed: “Become as little children!” That is, think as simply and look for difficulties as little as they do! He would never have expected anything so impossible from mankind as to pray the Lord’s Prayer, with the deep concentration it requires, straight through.
This should also convince humanity that Jesus wanted something different, something greater. He gave humanity the key to the Kingdom of God, and not merely a prayer!
It always weakens a prayer to make it manifold. Neither does a child come to its father with seven requests at a time, but only with that which is nearest to its heart, whether a grief or a wish.
This is the way in which man in his distress should also approach his God with a petition about that which oppresses him. In most cases it will be just one particular matter, not many at once! Man should not pray for something that does not really bother him. Since such a prayer cannot come to life deep within his intuition, it becomes an empty form and quite naturally weakens some other and perhaps really necessary request.
Therefore man should only pray for what is really necessary! All empty phrases should be avoided, as they are bound to fall to pieces and in time must foster hypocrisy!
Prayer requires profound earnestness. Pray in quietness and purity, so that the power of the intuitive perception will be increased through quietness and receive through purity that luminous lightness which will enable the prayer to be carried upward to the heights of all that is light and pure! Then the supplicant will receive that fulfillment which will be most beneficial for him and really advance him in his whole being!
The power of a prayer is not able to impel or force it upward; only purity with its corresponding lightness can do so. As soon as the urge to ask becomes alive within him, every person can achieve purity in prayer, although perhaps not in all prayers. It is not necessary for his whole life already to be based on purity, but while praying he will now and then be able at least to uplift himself for a few seconds in the purity of his intuitive perception.
Not only do the peace of seclusion and the deeper concentration made possible thereby help to strengthen the power of a prayer, but also every strong emotional feeling, such as fear, anxiety or joy.
This does not mean that the fulfillment of a prayer will necessarily always correspond to and harmonize with man’s earthly ideas and wishes. The fulfillment, in his best interests, reaches out far beyond these, leading towards what is best for the whole, not just for the earthly moment. If the prayer does not appear to be fulfilled this will be recognized later as the only right and best fulfillment, and the person will then be happy that things did not go according to his wish of the moment.
Now for the question of intercession! People often wonder how the reciprocal effect of a prayer of intercession, i.e. a petition for someone else, can find its way to a person who has not himself prayed, since the reaction must flow back to the petitioner along the way he has paved for it.
Here also there is no deviation from the firmly established laws. During a prayer the intercede thinks so intensively of the one for whom he is praying that his wishes are thereby first anchored or tied firmly to the person, and then start in their upward course from there. They can thus return to the other person, since the strong wishes of the petitioner have already become alive and circle around him. The one indispensable condition, however, is that the soil within the person being prayed for is receptive and, being of a like nature, offers an anchorage and puts no obstacle in the way.
If the soil is not receptive, thus unworthy, the fact that the intercessory prayer glances off reveals once more the wonderful justice of the Divine Laws, which cannot permit that help from outside through another person should fall on stony ground. This repulsing or glancing off of an intercession seeking anchorage in the person being prayed for, whose inner state has proved him unworthy, makes it impossible for help to come to him.
Here again we find something so perfect in this automatic and natural activity that man stands amazed before the unwavering and just distribution of the fruits of what men themselves willed!
Intercessions by people who have no definite inner urge from their intuitive perception have neither value nor success. They are as chaff before the wind!
There is still another way in which genuine intercession can take effect. That is when it acts as a signpost! The prayer immediately rises upwards and points to the one needing help. If now, in view of the way shown to him, a spiritual messenger is sent to give aid, the possibility of help reaching the person in need is subject to the same laws of worthiness or unworthiness, thus whether he is open to it or will repulse it.
If the person needing help has an inward leaning towards darkness, the messenger sent to help him in answer to the prayer cannot get in touch with or influence him, and must return without having accomplished anything. Thus the intercession could not be fulfilled because the living laws did not permit it.

But if the soil is suitable then a genuine intercession is of immeasurable value! Either it brings help without the person in need knowing it, or it unites with the wish or prayer of the person in need, thus giving him greatly increased

POWER OF PRAYER

Bringing back the Davidic Terbanace,Worshiping God In Love Truth and Spirit

Power Of Prayer - How powerful is it?
The power of prayer should not be underestimated. James 5:16-18 declares, "…The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops." God most definitely listens to prayers, answers prayers, and moves in response to prayers.

Jesus taught, "…I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you" (Matthew 17:20). 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 tells us, "The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." The Bible urges us, "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints" (Ephesians 6:18).

Power Of Prayer - How do I tap into it?
The power of prayer is not the result of the person praying. Rather, the power resides in the God who is being prayed to. 1 John 5:14-15 tells us, "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us - whatever we ask - we know that we have what we asked of him." No matter the person praying, the passion behind the prayer, or the purpose of the prayer - God answers prayers that are in agreement with His will. His answers are not always yes, but are always in our best interest. When our desires line up with His will, we will come to understand that in time. When we pray passionately and purposefully, according to God's will, God responds powerfully!

We cannot access powerful prayer by using "magic formulas." Our prayers being answered is not based on the eloquence of our prayers. We don't have to use certain words or phrases to get God to answer our prayers. In fact, Jesus rebukes those who pray using repetitions, "And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him" (Matthew 6:7-8). Prayer is communicating with God. All you have to do is ask God for His help. Psalm 107:28-30reminds us, "Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress. He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed. They were glad when it grew calm, and he guided them to their desired haven." There is power in prayer!

Power Of Prayer - For what kind of things should I pray?
God's help through the power of prayer is available for all kinds of requests and issues. Philippians 4:6-7 tells us, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." If you need an example of a prayer, read Matthew 6:9-13. These verses are known as the Lord's prayer. The Lord's prayer is not a prayer we are supposed to memorize and simply recite to God. It is only an example of how to pray and the things that should go into a prayer - worship, trust in God, requests, confession, protection, etc. Pray for these kinds of things, but speak to God using your own words.

The Word of God is full of accounts describing the power of prayer in various situations. The power of prayer has overcome enemies (Psalm 6:9-10), conquered death (2 Kings 4:3-36), brought healing (James 5:14-15), and defeated demons (Mark 9:29). God, through prayer, opens eyes, changes hearts, heals wounds, and grants wisdom (James 1:5). The power of prayer should never be underestimated because it draws on the glory and might of the infinitely powerful God of the universe! Daniel 4:35 proclaims, "All the peoples of the earth are regarded as nothing. He does as he pleases with the powers of heaven and the peoples of the earth. No one can hold back his hand or say to him: 'What have you done?'"

THE SECRET OF EFFECTIVE PRAYER

Bringing back the Davidic Terbanace,Worshiping God In Love Truth and Spirit.

Scripture Portion: James 5:16-18
The Bible is filled with promises, encouragements and illustrations which emphasize the secret of effective prayer. It is said that James had knees that were worn down by his constant habit of kneeling. If so, we have the testimony of a man who had proved the secret of effective prayer in his life and practiced what he preached. But notice the statement he makes in verse 16: “The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective” – in other words, it gets results.

1. There is a kind of prayer which is not always, or very rarely, effective.

The reason this prayer is ineffective and useless is because God does not hear it – look up and compare Job 27:8-9; Job 35:13; Isaiah 1:15-16; Isaiah 59:2; Micah 3:4; Zechariah 7:11-13; Luke 18:11-12. How solemn! But notice:
  1. Prayer with a wrong motive cannot be effective. We learn this from James 4:3, and how often we pray selfishly! Only prayer which is offered for the glory of God secures His ear and His answer.
  2. If we know of sin in our lives, prayer cannot be effective. We learn this from Psalm 66:18. How easy it is to harbour sin! We need to pray the prayers that David prayed – Psalm 139:23-24; Psalm 51:3-4, and act on 1 John 1:9.
  3. An unforgiving spirit will hinder prayer. We learn this from Mark 11:25-26. Is this a possible reason why our prayers for the conversion of our loved ones are not being answered?
  4. An unwillingness to be reconciled to someone prevents prayer from being effective. We learn this from Matthew 5:23-24. It is of little use to pray, worship, go to meetings, or engage in God’s service and to expect His blessing, if we are unwilling first to be reconciled to another believer.
  5. A wrong relationship is a barrier in prayer. We learn this from 1 Peter 3:7. Perhaps our relationship with members of our own family is not all that it should be. According to this verse, that can be a hindrance to our prayers.

2. There is, however, a kind of prayer which is always effective.

James tells us that it is possible to pray and to succeed in gaining God’s gracious answer to our prayers. This is prayer that is “powerful and effective”, and James goes on to give us an illustration of what prayer can do (verses 17-18). If we want to discover the secret of effective prayer and of all that God is willing to do in answer to the prayers of His people, we need to look at Elijah, a man just like us, who proved the great power of prayer in an amazing way. As we look at Elijah, we should ask the question, ‘What can prayer do?’
  1. Through prayer God’s servants are empowered to speak His word.
  2. We learn this from 1 Kings 17:1. Surely it was because Elijah knew what it was to stand before the Lord that he was able to go and stand before the wicked Ahab. It was prayer in private which made him powerful in public! When we turn to the New Testament we find the same truth clearly taught – Acts 4:29, 31-32. Effective prayer releases the power of the Holy Spirit, and by the power of the Holy Spirit God’s servants are made bold and courageous to speak for the Lord.
  3. Through prayer God’s servants gain ample provision for all their needs.
  4. We see in 1 Kings 17 two great illustrations of this. First, God provided free accommodation for Elijah by the brook Kerith and fed him every day by means of ravens (1 Kings 17:2-6). Then, when the brook dried up (verse 7), God provided free accommodation at Zarephath, and he had all that he needed (1 Kings 17:8-16); compare Psalm 34:10 and Philippians 4:19.
  5. Through prayer God’s servants experience His miracle-working power. We learn this from 1 Kings 17:17-24. When we act in accordance with His will, God does truly great and mighty things in answer to the prayers of His people – look up Jeremiah 33:3, and compare Mark 11:22-24.
  6. Through prayer God’s servants can know victory over the Lord’s enemies. The whole of 1 Kings chapter 18 is worth very careful reading. How amazing! – the false prophets were put to shame and afterwards put to death, and the Lord’s name was vindicated. Prayer today can drive back the powers of darkness and overcome God’s enemies – the forces of materialism, the flood of obscenity, the spread of false religions – look up Isaiah 59:19.
  7. Through prayer God’s servants are kept during times of testing and failure. 1 Kings 19 is also a great chapter. It tells us how tenderly the Lord dealt with His weary and failing servant and how graciously He restored and re-commissioned him. All this came about through prayer.

3. In conclusion, notice the secret of effective prayer (James 5:16).

  1. Prayer that is effective must be fervent and earnest – it must really come from the heart! Look up Genesis 32:26; Isaiah 66:8; Hosea 12:4; Luke 11:8.
  2. Prayer that is effective is that which is worked in by the Holy Spirit – look up and compare Romans 8:26; Philippians 2:13; Jude 20.
  3. Prayer that is effective must be offered by a righteous man – that is, by a man who is made righteous through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ – look up Romans 4:5-8; and by a man who is righteous in all his ways before the Lord – look up Philippians 1:11.
